01 — About

Art can hold difficult conversations.

Yayasan Bersama Project works at the intersection of contemporary artistic practice, gender justice and cultural change. Rooted in Indonesia’s independent arts communities, we bring together musicians, filmmakers, visual artists, performers and writers to explore questions of gender, sexuality and freedom of expression.

Our work prioritises voices historically pushed to the margins. Through collaborative creation and cultural partnerships, we build spaces for experimentation, shared knowledge and meaningful public engagement.

How we work

Practice before prescription.

01

Interdisciplinary Art

Music, film, visual art, performance and writing meet without fixed boundaries.

02

Gender Justice

Women’s voices and diverse gender experiences are present as authors, not subjects.

03

Community & Collaboration

Long-term relationships and shared processes shape the work from within.

04

Cultural Change

Art becomes a space for reflection, dialogue, experimentation and transformation.

The City Hears Her

Sonic Experience
for Future Cities

“What kinds of futures become possible when women are listened to before spaces, institutions and technologies are designed around them?”

A collaborative public art project in development between In Between Time and Yayasan Bersama. Women translate lived experiences of Jakarta into sound through participatory workshops, feminist listening and artistic exchange.

These sonic expressions form the basis for site-specific sound and light works in public space—where technology supports listening rather than dominating it.
